Gutter cleaning in the Fall

on Tue, 11/15/2011 - 12:47

Don't be penny wise and pound foolish. A measly $300.00 each year to have your gutters cleaned by trained and insured pros can save you thousands of dollars in Roof repairs, soffit and fascia damage and internal walls and ceiling damage--and even loss of energy by water ruining the insulation you have in your attic.  It is worth looking into.

We provide gutter cleaning service, and now is the time to get it done.

Fall is the ideal season for exterior painting

on Sun, 10/09/2011 - 02:17

Did you know that Fall is the best time to paint. The temperatures are cooler, the air is dryer, containing very little humidity which is a key factor in successful paint application. During spring and summer wood is contracting and expanding in a short period of time due to frequent--even daily--temperature and humidity changes. In Fall, the temperature vary within a narrow range--from highs of 65 to lows of 40. Fall temperatures also help caulk, putty and paint dry faster--the way they are supposed to dry--creating tight bonds between the surface and the paint. Just food for thought.

Paint prices are going up in 2012

on Sun, 10/09/2011 - 02:12

Paint prices are expected to go up at least 10% across the board after January 1, 2012, and the economy and recession have a lot of contractors with less work than usual. When the economy starts to recover, labor costs will go back up, and paint costs are going up no matter what. You can save up to 30% across the board by painting now--exterior or interior.

If you’re in a position to paint or remodel, now is your best opportunity to save.

on Fri, 08/05/2011 - 23:42

Sometimes homeowners want to remodel all or part of their homes--modernizing a kitchen or bathroom, refinishing classic wood long covered by paint. Other times, external events make repair or replacement critical.

Site preparation for your painting job

on Wed, 07/27/2011 - 16:28

Whether you're doing it yourself or hiring a contractor, the ground rules for site preparation are the same.

Proper site preparation is key to the longevity of an interior or exterior painting or remodeling job.

Here are some of the procedures we use to prepare a job site. Other contractors may vary on the details, but the core principles of protecting existing surfaces and surrounding areas that are not part of the job, and thoroughly preparing the surfaces to be painted remain.

What is low-VOC paint and why do we use it?

on Sun, 07/10/2011 - 00:00

VOCs is short-hand for volatile organic compounds.

Until recently, volatile organic compounds (VOCs) were an essential ingredient in paints. They were the solvents that were released as the paint dried. Some people have very strong reactions to them in the hours and days after a new coat of paint.
